What to wear???

My friend and I are going to NYC for a week in mid-January. We%26#39;re from SC and live in our Rainbow flip flops year round. What is the weather like in NYC this time of year and what should we pack to wear? Thanks y%26#39;all!!!

What to wear???

Mid-January in NYC will bring a high temperature during the day of about 38 and a low at night of about 26. Bring layers of clothing so that you can take some of them off when you go into shops and other buildings. Since it might snow, you need some type of waterproof boots because after the snow there is always slush at the street corners that will be higher than your ankles (these don%26#39;t have to be expensive). You will also need other comfortable walking shoes.

What to wear???

I just got back from NYC last week. I currently am limping up stairs and hills b/c I tried to walk around NYC for two days with brand new boots I had never worn before. I hurt my achilles tendon b/c there wasn%26#39;t a good stretch with the new boots. They were flat soled and very comfortable, but nevertheless---dont try to break any boots in on your trip. Try to wear them about before you come. And definitely don%26#39;t wear cute heeled girly shoes.

Also....I WISH I would of had a coat that covered my butt. Most girls I saw had those puffy coats that went almost to their knees. I found out why. The coldest part of my body was my butt and thighs.

A hat, scarf, and gloves are a must as well. There are vendors on the street everywhere to buy them if you need to. Also, Century 21 is a super cheap place to buy boots and all other outerware. It is right across the street from Ground Zero! HAVE FUN!

It%26#39;s a crap shoot. I was there last December and wore layers of long johns. This year the weather was mild. So. Take layers. I recommend 1 pair of silky long-john tops and pants, tights, layered sweaters, skirts or pants that can move from day to evening, boots, gloves, a warm scarf and a long coat. And a hat that covers your ears. You may not need it all, but if you do you%26#39;ll really need it!

mamababoo, did you just come back from NYC? If so, do we get a trip report?

hurt feet from too much walking? that%26#39;s why i always recommend sports shoes with good arch support (like tennis shoes, NOT basketball flats) and elevated heel. even if it%26#39;s slushy you%26#39;ll be alright. most boots are not suited for prolonged walking.

Happy New Year!! I just wanted to personally thank nyc10025! You%26#39;ve helped by answering some of the questions I have regarding my upcoming trip to NYC. I truly appreciate your kindness. Thanks so much! Much prosperity for the new year! Best, your SC Pearl Girls:)
