Jet Blue, Jack and Judy's, and JFK

Hi, everyone,

We%26#39;re trying to schedule a trip to NYC in July, and I%26#39;ve got a few questions.

1. If you%26#39;ve flown Jet Blue, what was your experience? I noticed when booking, the policy said the fare was capacity controlled and that seats offered at the low far might not be available on all flights. Has anyone had trouble getting on a flight?

2. I%26#39;m talking to Jack and Judy%26#39;s and would really like to stay there, but I%26#39;ve got to have some AC. If you%26#39;ve stayed there, is the AC good?

3. Jet Blue flies into JFK, and I%26#39;ve never used that airport. Are taxi/car rates the same as those from La Guardia?

Thanks for the help. This will be my fourth visit to NYC. I was bit by the bug about 10 years ago, and now I can%26#39;t go more than two years without a visit.

Jet Blue, Jack and Judy's, and JFK

Jet Blue is absolutely fantastic. I don%26#39;t know about fare capacity. I just know I%26#39;ve always gotten a good price, sometimes better than others. Since you%26#39;re planning so far in advance you should be fine. Just book when you see a price you like. They do fluctuate and the ';cheapest'; is not always available depending on dates/times.

There%26#39;s a regular poster here (Daisiegee) who%26#39;s at this moment staying at Jack %26amp; Judy%26#39;s and I think she%26#39;s stayed before. Not sure if it was in summer. Someone is sure to respond.

JFK is not as close to Manhattan as LGA but there%26#39;s a fixed price of $45 plus toll and tip FROM JFK into Manhattan. So no, the rates are not the same as LGA, they%26#39;re a bit more, but so what. YOu%26#39;ll likely save on airfare by using Jet Blue. Btw, I know Jet Blue is starting service to/from LGA on some routes. Don%26#39;t know if they%26#39;re from Texas.

Jet Blue, Jack and Judy's, and JFK

Thanks, nywhiz! Jet Blue as yet is not flying in La Guardia from Austin. I%26#39;ll check out the car/taxi rates from JFK. I thought I%26#39;d read somewhere they were all the same.

Now we%26#39;re trying to decide which show to see. My daughter wants to see Wicked, but I have a problem paying that much to see a show. She%26#39;s seen Beauty and the Beast and doesn%26#39;t want to see Lion King (too scary, she thinks).

I%26#39;m thinking Stomp or Hairspray. Does anyone know if Mamma Mia is appropriate for an eight-year-old?

We%26#39;re all so excited!

the Lion King is too scary?????

how old is your daughter?

Mamma Mia has a storyline about an 18 year old daughter about to be married who finds her mother%26#39;s diary and learns that her mother slept with three men one summer and one of those men is her biological father

Hairspray has a storyline about a chubby girl trying to integrate a 1960s Baltimore TV show; terrific music

LOL! I have an eight-year-old who is scared of just about everything. She%26#39;s the only child on the planet scared of It%26#39;s a Small World at Disney. I%26#39;m sure she%26#39;d be fine once she got into the Lion King, but she%26#39;s too apprehensive to go.

Hmm, I%26#39;m thinking Mamma Mia might bring up topics I care not to explain at this point.

Thanks!

Whizz is right the person who will advise you on JACK %26amp; Judy%26#39;s is DaisieGee. She will be a great help to you on this subject.

Whiz is soo right about JetBlue - I%26#39;m a huge fan of that airline - leather seats and 50 channel satellite TV - all with ample leg room. They only serve snacks so make sure you bring food if you are likely to get hungry.

JetBlue has it%26#39;s own terminal at JFK and baggage claim is right across the street from the AirTrain. So another option for getting into Manhattan would be to take the Airtrain to either Jamiaca Station for the ';E'; subway or to the Howard Beach Station for the ';A'; subway. The Airtrain is $5.00 per person plus the cost of the subway ride into Manhattan ($2.00/person without weekly MetroCard, cheaper with it)

Mamma Mia is the best show ever! my brother who is 10 really loved it...it was really funny..it does have a little language but you wont care b/c that is how good it is...at the end of the show they have everyone stand and clap and dance in the aisles to 3 songs that they do a bit of an encore to..bottom line go to that show you will truely love it...i went to see it this past weds and had a 3/4 year old sitting next to me and she love it...she was dacing and clapping and everything...wicked, if your kid is afraid of lion king, will be afraid of that play and i heard that its sold out until like march/april of next year! i hope this helps!

I%26#39;m staying in Appt6 right now and there are air conditioning units in both the living room and bedroom...obviously they aren%26#39;t being used by us at the moment! We stayed in Appt5 July 2004 and again, there were units in both living room and bedroom which were very effective but noisy. I have to say that I can%26#39;t sleep with any air conditioning on as we don%26#39;t have it at home and I%26#39;m not used to the sound, and they were no noisier than any other hotel I%26#39;ve been in.

Thanks for the info DG! I just told Jack to hold a room for us.

Have a good New Year%26#39;s!
