Had booked Crowne Plaza at United Nations for Jan and was happy with reports etc. However as the trip gets closer I%26#39;m wondering of I should cancel our booking and opt for somewhere more central seeing as we%26#39;re going so far off-season?
I%26#39;ve been keeping an eye on travelzoo and hotwire for offers..should I stick with our original or shop around a bit more?
tempted to change hotel booking
How we can respond w/o knowing what you%26#39;re paying and what options you%26#39;ve seen? If you were staying at the Millennium UN Plaza, I%26#39;d say it%26#39;s worth the slight inconvenience of the location to stay there. Plush hotel. Not sure about the Crowne Plaza. There%26#39;s a special for the Barclay Intercontinental that%26#39;s a much nicer hotel for $175. If that%26#39;s available for your dates, I%26#39;d take that in a minute.

Sorry. We%26#39;re paying $189 including American breakfast at the Crowne Plaza.
If you can find something else you like, change. I%26#39;d prefer the Barclay. Breakfasts can be cheap and maybe you won%26#39;t want a full b/f every morning.
Thanks - I%26#39;m going to give it another week or so, want the nicest hotel we can get for around the $200 mark. Missed out on the Hyatt Grand Central when travelzoo pulled the offer 2 days early. Best offer I%26#39;ve seen so far is for Dream but there seems to be mixed views as to whether it%26#39;s a 3 or 4 star hotel and I def want 4 star + (I know it%26#39;s a big ask in a major city at that budget..but look at it this way, one night in a hotel equates to 2 broadway tickets!)
I wouldn%26#39;t stay at the Dream. Rooms reallllly small. I would check the Algonquin (charming and great location), Shelburne Murray Hill, Intercontinetal Barclay.
I recommend plugging your dates into easyclicktravel.com as well and see what turns up. The Affinia properties are often on there. If you go to betterbidding.com they have a very handy thing that can tell you the names of the hotels that are ';hidden'; on easyclick. Or if you put the descriptions here we can figure them out.
Okay - the rate on the Barclay seems to be a bit of a con. It turns out it%26#39;s over $226 per night (including all taxes AND CHARGES). Now I%26#39;ve done the maths and the taxes on a $175 a night room don%26#39;t add up to $50?
