sights, restaurant advice!!

I%26#39;m so excited, Monday morning me and my family are off to NYC for 5 days! We arrive Monday lunchtime at Newark and we are staying at the Westin Times Square, what is the best way for a family of 5 to get to it from the airport?

Also, we%26#39;ve been to NY before and done the main sights like Empire State, Statue of Liberty, but what else should we look into this time? We definitely wanna go ice skating because it was summer last time we visited.

Finally, any advice on restaurants? We are staying in Times Square but that%26#39;s not definitive of where we%26#39;ll only eat. Family places are best as we have 3 teenagers, we%26#39;ll do Planet Hollywood and that type but any others that do nice burgers, pasta etc? you know the type of places I mean.

Finally, anything else people would recommend? We would like to see a show but have nothing booked, so would there be any chance of that happening?

I would really appreciate any advice people have to offer!

The ';best'; way from the airport actually depends on how old your kids are. There%26#39;s a bus (coach) that goes from the airport to Port Authority bus terminal which is literally across the street from your hotel. It%26#39;s $15/person but kids are free. I don%26#39;t know how old they define a ';kid.'; Here%26#39;s a link with all the options

http://www.panynj.gov/aviation/egtsfram.htm

The very first option listed is the bus/destination you want. Maybe you could email them and find out.

Your other option I think is ordering a limo for 5. I would contact Crown limo

1800mycrown.com

and get a quote for a stretch limo. The kids would love it. Tell them you saw the ad in the travel magazine and you should get a discount.

Since you feel you%26#39;ve seen the major sights, it%26#39;s time to start investigating the different neighborhoods that make up the real NYC. Go downtown and explore ';the village'; Maybe take a walking tour. Go to the Tenement Museum and see what NYC was like for new immigrants. Visit the UN. Go to the Museum of Natural History. Pay a visit to the polar bears in the zoo in Central Park. Maybe even go to the Bronx Zoo.

You%26#39;re really coming at an ideal time since most of the Xmas decoration will still be up but the crowds will be thinner. ;)

menupages.com is a great website for finding restaurants by location and by cuisine. There%26#39;s also a ';sticky'; at the top of this page called restaurant ';hot list';

gocitykids.com is a good website for finding things to do with kids (and includes rest. ideas I think).

You should have no problem getting tickets to a show at the half price TKTS booth. There%26#39;s one a block or so from your hotel and another downtown across from the South STreet Seaport. More info at

tdf.org/tkts

You could also have a look on broadwaybox.com You might be able to find a discount code for a show you%26#39;d like that you could buy ahead with a credit card. The TKTS booth will only accept cash or travelers check.

Have fun!

You%26#39;ve just gotten the best advice. I just want to add that when you%26#39;re buying theater tickets, you have more options if you don%26#39;t all sit together. There will likely be more availability if you split into 2+3.

Watch the weather forecast, as they%26#39;re predicting some rain in the coming week. Plan your ice skating, and Empire State visits for the dryer days. And don%26#39;t forget the new observatory at the Top of the Rock, it%26#39;s gorgeous! There%26#39;s a two-for-one offer on this forum, use the search function to have the coupons emailed to you.

Have a grand trip!
