Hotel Carter???

We%26#39;re thinking about heading out to NYC for New Years eve. Has anybody ever heard of or experienced Hotel Carter - 250 west 43rd St???? The rates are very affordable - looks huge and convenient.

We are planning on arriving Dec 31 early AM and nonstop running until we leave on Jan 4. We simply want a safe clean hotel - won%26#39;t be spending much time there.

Any suggestions about New years eve and Times square and what wlse we should do in the few days that we are in NYC?

Which airport should we fly into?

Thanks!

Hotel Carter???

Do NOT stay at the Carter!! Read reviews here

For any hotel you%26#39;re considering, type in the upper left hand corner box and read reviews.

Hotel Carter???

NO, NO, NO to the Hotel Carter

recent article in NY Times about it

fly into whichever airport is cheapest; all 3 have public transportation into Manhattan

unfortunately, hotel for 12/31 will cost you a fortune

stay in NJ in Secaucus

www.broadwayfocus.com/nj_nyc/

buses to Secaucus run until 5:30am for that night; normal is 12:30am

Thank you very much...Can%26#39;t stop laughing - just read the reviews via the link provided! HA HA

How about the Hampton Inn. I found a room for $289 for NY%26#39;s eve and $189 thereafter.

What are the must see touristy things to do. We%26#39;ve never been there and of course we have heard SOOOO much about all the different things to do - but when we have a limited time we aren%26#39;t sure what to do. My daughter wants to see Rent.

The Hampton Inn used to be a Howard Johnson%26#39;s. When it became The Hampton Inn, it underwent extensive renovations. Again, read the reviews posted here on TA.

There are 4 different Hampton Inns. Listed here with links to reviews

The Red Roof Inn seems to be another good budget place with decent reviews.

Avoid Times Square on NYE unless you want to stand outstand for hours on end.

Tickets to Rent can usually be had on discount at the TKTS booth or by buying with a discount code on broadwaybox.com Since it%26#39;s now a movie, maybe she%26#39;d rather see another show that%26#39;s not been a movie.

How old is your daughter?

Behind the Hampton Inn on 50th Street is a construction site -- new highrise going up, so I don%26#39;t think it would be the most restful place to stay.

good question by nywhiz as to age of your daughter. my high schooler loved the musical RENT, but i would certainly not recommend for younguns. we stayed at Travel Inn. clean, across the street from a police substation, noisy however

My daughter is 15 and she saw the movie opening day. She loved it :)

How about getting tickets to Regis and Kelly or any other shows? Any advice?

Thx!

Most shows have tix gone months in advance. You can try standby line but there is no guarantee. When we were in NYC we happened upon a taping for Jimmy Kimmel live right in Times Square which was a lot of fun. No lines no waiting!!!

Check quikbook.com for hotels if you haven%26#39;t found something yet. If you want to stay near Times Square, the Red Roof Inn and the Comfort Inn Midtown are 2 that generally get decent reviews. What%26#39;s your budget and how many nights will you stay? Are you 2 or 3?

If daugher liked the movie RENT, sure, take her to the show. Mama Mia is another she%26#39;d like.
