Hello there everyone. I had such a great time planning my honeymoon on this site earlier this year that I thought I%26#39;d come back for information on NYC. I%26#39;m trying to plan a trip to NYC with my wife for February, and would love to stay in, or around, the Theater District. I came across the Milford Plaza for $143 a night (2 1/2 star). Should I worry about the quality of this hotel? Has anyone ever stayed at this hotel before, and would they recommend it? I would love any information on this, or any, hotel in and around the Time Square/Theater District. Thank everyone.
Good hotels in, or around, times square?
I stayed at the Milford Plaza for five times during the past years. It麓s ok, but nothing special - but please try to get a renovated room. Other麓s are very old with dirty carpets, uncomfortables beds.... - If you like to see some Broadway shows the location is really great - Certainly, the quality and service is no Hilton or Marriott Marquis on Times Sq-standard, but the rate also isn麓t.
Just stayed at the Affinia Manhattan (7th Ave/31 st), which is just 11 short blocks away from Times Sq (on the way back you can take M10 or M20 bus) and must say it麓s really great! Suitable rates, First class-rooms, Top-Service!

Try the Belvedere, consistently great reviews, Doubletree Suites, Portland Square, Marriott Marquis, The Travel Inn and Hotel 41.
I have stayed previously at the Crowne Plaza, Novotel, Marriott Marquiua %26amp; on my recent trip the Hilton Times Square which was wonderful. Huge rooms and a view to die for. This hotel is right next to Madame Tussards right in the hustle %26amp; bustle but once inside it seems a million miles away from all the hustle.
I stayed in the crowne plazza two years ago and that was great, we had a huge room lovely bathroom etc and at 39 floors up a great view!
I stayed in the Doubletree Times Sq. two years ago for $199 p/night but the rates have went up dramatically since then. It%26#39;s my first choice for going back in 06 (but only if the rate comes down a bit). The spotless rooms were absolutely huge [600 sq. ft.]. The bedroom was separate from the living area and we had a little kitchenette. The views from the 27th floor facing T.S. were absolutely stunning and the staff were second to none. Enjoy your trip wherever you decide to stay!
Thanks for the replies everyone. I really appreciate it. I%26#39;ll be looking into other hotels. Thanks again.
Hey
We are going to NYC in March and asked the same question as you. We have booked into the Novotel for our stay. Read the reviews, they all seem to be good. We got it for about $150 dollars per night.
Some of the lower priced hotels in that area that get good reviews include the Comfort Inn Midtown, The Hotel QT, Hotel 41, Courtyard Manhattan/Times Square South. The Belvedere gets the best all around marks. But if there are just 2 of you, I%26#39;d strongly consider bidding on Priceline. People who have bid 4* hotel midtown west (the area with the theater district) have ';won'; the NY Hilton, the Hilton Times Square or the Marriott Marquis for anywhere from $100-150/night. If the trip is less than a week and not on a holiday weekend, even better chance of getting something. If you%26#39;re not familiar with Priceline, read biddingfortravel.com or betterbidding.com Either of those websites will even help you construct a bid.
If you start bidding now, even if you get rejected, you still have time to bid again. You might make a ';safe'; reservation somewhere that you can cancel if you get something better. I%26#39;d also check travelzoo.com which often has good deals. Right now they have a special listed for the Intercontinental Barclay (not in TS, but very very nice hotel) for $175 through March. We just returned from spending Christmas in Times Square. We stayed at the Marriott Marquis and absolutely loved it. I manage office buildings and was fascinated by the new elevator system. Occassionally found a few minute wait but to be expected with 49 floors and a full hotel! The rooms were large and the beds were sooo comfortable. We enjoyed the rooms, the Broadway lounge on 8 facing Times Square, The View restaurant on 48 that is revolving and Club 49 overlooking the city. I highly recommend the Marriott and will definitely stay there again.
