My best friend %26amp; I are going to NYC in March to celebrate my 40th bday!
Based on reviews %26amp; comments %26amp; rates, I%26#39;ve narrowed my selection down to 3 places; The Novotel, The Belvedere, and On the Ave.
I know the Novotel %26amp; Belvedere are more centrally located but I also like the idea of being in a ';neighborhood'; and close to the park. If we stay at On the Ave, are we going to wind up spending all our money on cabs %26amp; subways to get everywhere?
So I guess I%26#39;m kinda taking a poll. Out of those 3 which would you pick %26amp; why?
Thanks so much in advance for any help!

Trying to decide between 3 hotels....
Hi, My daughter lives in Greenich Village and I have gone up to NYC several times over the past few years...last month i rented an apt at Harold towers for the same price as a hotel...more room if you need it and a kitchen, but for your Birthday you%26#39;d probably not want to cook! NY hotel are very small and paying $400/night would get you the standard of a $100/night hotel room. Manhatten is walkable! A nice stroll even at night, well lighted always others walking, ex. uptown to midtown or midtown to downtown, if tired a cab is only $4-6 to anywhere in town...not much more than a metro fare for two. If you don%26#39;t want to spend all your money on a hotel to sleep... hey you%26#39;re in NYC! Save it to do and see things! The cleanest, most reasonable stay on a budget is Hotel 17 or Hotel 31...old and quaint. Pictures on the website, young models, European students stay here...no tourists really. Like in Europe, some rooms have shower down the hall. $79-99/night as cheap as $50 off season. Do go to 46th/Broadway to buy steeply disounted tickets to any Broadway play...ex. $40 for Phantom of the Opera. They only sell the seats left for that day%26#39;s show. Have cheesecake at Sardi%26#39;s like Doris Day to get to sit in the restarount so frequently filmed, walk through Central Park...now this is further and more tiring than uptown to downtown!!! Shop for cheap knockoffs on Cannal street...hey thay may be fake but the quality of the watches, purses etc are better than walmart and cheaper and cute! ps always bargain to pay less. Do not buy any dvd%26#39;s unless it is for a gag gift very cheesy poor quality, incomplete/illegal too. Happy Birthday!!! Enjoy your trip...I%26#39;m going back up next month for my birthday. ps The Met is almost as good as the Louve! if i can answer any other questions for you. Mary Catherine
