Luggage allowance?

I am going to the big apple this Sunday for a week. We intend bringing a big(ish) case each and one piece of hand luggage each.

As we hope to shop til we drop, will we get away with a second case each coming back? Any customs issues?

Flying with AerLingus from Dublin.

This has maybe been asked before so sorry for repeating.

Luggage allowance?

Have you checked the AerLingus website? Each airline varies slightly on what is allowed. Also, if you shop too much - you can always stop by a mailboxes or UPS store and ship your stuff back to Ireland.

Luggage allowance?

Some airlines also have weight restrictions on each piece of luggage, not just the number, so call AerLingus.

This info is from the Arelingus website

Checked baggage

Allowances as follows:

Transatlantic Routes Premier Economy

Number of pieces 2 2

Dimensions of bag =

length + width + height 158 cms/62 ins per bag 1 bag at 158 cms/62 ins and 1 bag at 140 cms/55 ins 1 bag at 115 cms/45 ins and 1 collapsible stroller

The weight of any one piece of baggage must not exceed 32 Kgs/70 lbs.

The Transatlantic baggage allowance also will apply for all travel in Ireland and Europe for passengers originating in the U.S. on an Aer Lingus transatlantic flight.

Hi there

Thanks for the advice.

Elle - ta for all the trouble to get me the aer lingus info.

Hi Eighteen no problem we just got back 2 weeks ago and are desperate to go back, have beween offered a super deal for Jan 19 3 nights out of Belfast staying in Intercontinental The Barclay trying to justify going back to myself (and my kids who will be left behind again ;-)any way hope you have a wonderful time look forward to a trip report - Elle

Why are you taking so much to start with?

Last time I went, I literally took one hange of clothing in my suitcase, and it was full on my return.

Also this looks better with customs as if you have worn new clothes, they bviously don%26#39;t look so new!!

Have fun!!

Thanks we had a blast of a trip. Trip report to follow. Luggage was no problem as we were within limits.

AngieM - you obviously don%26#39;t have an 18 year old daughter - she couldn%26#39;t decide what to bring so brought most of her wardrobe, straying in to my baggage too!!!!!!!!
