buying a camcorder
nycgirl is spot on - B%26amp;H is the place for all photo/electronics of all types.
they are orthodox Jewish and close early on Fridays all day Saturday.
Check their website for opening/religious holiday hours.
Good luck

B%26amp;H Photo/Video is the right place for midtown.
If you%26#39;re downtown, J%26amp;R Music World, with prices a small bit higher than B%26amp;H.
You cannot do better, despite what any vendor will tell you.
Be sure, as suggested above, to confirm open hours for B%26amp;H.
Both vendors have OVERWHELMING collections of what%26#39;s new and hot in almost every consumer technology. Both sell professional equipment.
Travel safely,
Joe in NYC
Hello Guiness havent seen you on here in a while. What is wrong with the shops in Dungarvan. Re u off again.
On a more serious note though dont go near any of the small camera shops around Time Sq. and Broadway. Total rip of merchants a bit like the lookey lookey you find in Spain etc. Take a walk down to B%26amp;H. It is pretty near Port Authority Bus Terminal. You can check it out on the website before you go. They close a half day Friday and all day Saturday. It is open all day Sunday. A friend of mine bought a camera in one of the shops around Time Sq. and paid about $250 for it and it was only $150 in B%26amp;H. I had much the same in pricing memory sticks. Even if you dont buy your camcorder in B%26amp;H it is definetly worth going just to see the whole set up there.
Have a great trip.
travelling over for st patricks day
besides the aforementioned B%26amp;H and J%26amp;R,
the national chains such as Circuit City [www.circuitcity.com], Best Buy [www.bestbuy.com], and PC Richard [www.pcrichard.com] are also reliable
all three chains have stores in Manhattan
I bought my camcorder from a PC Richard store in NJ. I was able to do a little price bargaining.
