Carnival Cruise from NY to Canada -Triumph August 2005

I have taken cruises on 2 other line; Royal Carribean and Disney. They blow this cruise away. The decor was old; the room with balcony small and our toilet was not working one day; the food was to be less than desired, small portions and sometimes undercooked, the best part of the food was the 24 Pizza; you would prefer to be on the lower level of the dining rooms in order to see the entertainment; the pool chairs and deck get very crowded and you need to sign in and out for towels, which are not convienently located; plus the water is freezing, although the slide is fun. The kids camp is nothing compared to Disney. The shows are good. If driving to NY, the ship is very easy to get to and parking is a breeze. The Canadian people are VERY friendly. St. John%26#39;s is very limited; the actual ';town'; is not very active and has seen a better economy; it reminds me of a small San Francisco, although the locals remind you St. John%26#39;s came first so San Francisco reminds you of St. John%26#39;s... Halifax is beautiful; recommend the excursions of Peggys Cove; you can also ';hire'; limos right outside the port that day. If I were to ever take a cruise to Canada again it would be via a different line and during fall colors. It was a lot of money for what we received. I have been told Triumph is dry docking this fall to receive a ';face lift';.

?

We took the Triumph to the Western Caribbean this past May and disliked Carnival also. First of all very overcrowded w/ young under aged drinkers?? I think because the up front tipping it draws alot of people to not tip and the crew doesn%26#39;t want to work for free.

Lines for food were long. Food was just OK! Not pleased w/ the formal dining room. Again crew didn%26#39;t make us feel like royalty like other cruise lines.

The Atrium is suppose to be very big and beautiful well, Where is it? So small couldn%26#39;t even take pictures for formal night..

We had a inside cabin on the 1st floor. Big mistake because the drains back up everyday so when you took a shower it flooded. :(

they had a show in the theatre then the adult comedian. WHY in the world w/ all the people on this boat did they make him perform in the Smallest Club on the Ship. They shut the doors and 1/2 the people couldn%26#39;t get in to see him..... RIP OFF!!

My husband got sick from the food but can%26#39;t prove it if it was because of jamacia or the ship. But the ship nurse said probably from uncooked eggs on the ship:( the nurse on board was the GREATEST!! She was awesome. and took her pride in helping my husband through his sick night.

I could go on for awhile but this is some of it. Bording the Ship is a nightmare. all day job. and it is HORRIBLE.

My suggestion. Go w/ another cruise line that takes pride in there guest and know they have to work for there tips.... You get what you pay for.

Mothers beware if your child is young I think Carnival Triumph serves anybody... :(
