Big difference between West St. and West 34 st. ;) The biggest attraction on west 34th is the Empire State building, followed by Macy%26#39;s and Penn Station/Madison Square Garden.
For restaurants, have a look at menupages.com and look at ';west 30s';. The area is a bit commercial/business. Other posters have mentioned Speedy%26#39;s deli on west 33 st I think as good value.
