4 females: 2 in their 50s, 2- 21 yr olds, first time...

We are planning a trip for September 2006 for my daughter%26#39;s 21st birthday. I am thinking of staying at the Radio City Apts or Salisbury for a long weekend thurs - sun. Are either of these better located for first time visitors who want to visit the tourist areas. Any help with suggestions for activities for 2 21 yr old girls who are not too interested in museums would be appreciated. Also help with bars, etc in the area that would be fun for their first experience as 21 yr olds. Thank for any advice. Gerrie Shopping suggestions?

I would say those 2 hotels are very similar. Radio City Apartments is close to Rockefeller Center and to H %26amp; M, a popular shop for their age. Salisbury is a bit closer to Central Park. If the 4 of you are planning to share 1 room, I%26#39;d say pay attention to whichever will give you the space and bed configuration you want as location is not dramatically different. I%26#39;ve noticed cheaper prices for the Salisbury on quikbook.com so doublecheck price before booking.

What is Gerrie shopping????

I know that Radio City Apts. gets rave reviews. But honestly, of the two, I really like the Salisbury%26#39;s location better. It%26#39;d be good to hear from someone who%26#39;s stayed at both, but to me the Salisbury has a classier look. Plus, in September you%26#39;d want to be nearer to the park.

I%26#39;ll take a stab and say ';gerrie shopping'; is for the two older ladies, as in geriatric, but 50 isn%26#39;t THAT old !! If I%26#39;m wrong, please accept apologies. lol

Sorry Gerrie is my name. The shoping suggestions question was an afterthought. Should have used a period. Just wondering about shopping suggestions for the 21 yr olds. Thanks for all the info. Gerrie.

Oops, sorry, Gerrie, it wasn%26#39;t meant as an insult. Have a fabulous trip, and have fun planning.

Since the Salisbury has been mentioned in several posts this morning, just thought I%26#39;d mention that one of my favorite hotel websites quikbook.com often has prices for the Salisbury that are cheaper than the hotel%26#39;s own website but it may require prepayment. Since you have quite a bit of time til next Sept., you might want to sign up for email specials from the hotel on their own website.

I%26#39;ll also mention that a great all suite hotel is the Affinia 50 and you might want to check that one as well. It%26#39;s generally pricier than the 2 you mentioned but there are sometimes specials there as well. It%26#39;s very near Bloomingdales and some other good shopping destinations.

For 21 yr old shopping, H %26amp; M should be at the top of the list and they have several locations, one right near RAdio City apts., one near Bloomingdales, one near Macy%26#39;s.

DSW is a discount shoe store (part of a national chain) that has a store near Union Square.

Top Shop is an English store that recently opened downtown in NYC.

nymetro.com is the NY Magazine website. They have a pretty good search engine for shopping. They also have a good guide for finding cheap anything (fashion, food, etc.)here

nymetro.com/cheap

dailycandy.com is a good website for fashion info and stores. ;)

If your girls are energetic shoppers and really want bargains, go to Century 21. They do have terrific prices.
