La Bonne Soup is a few blocks away with good, reasonably priced burgers, salads, quiche, soup, crepes etc. But this Fri., for an early dinner in that area, I%26#39;d guess the area will be mobbed. I%26#39;d think about getting out of that neighborhood.

Maison on 53rd Street between 7th Avenue and Broadway is a terrific approximation of a French brasserie -- very good food, reasonably priced.

We will be at the Avalon hotel. Price $8-$15 a person.

$8-$15 per person???? For dinner??? In that neighborhood you won%26#39;t find much at all!! In midtown, that kind of money will get you fast food or pizza, but (despite what the sign says) I don%26#39;t consider McDonald%26#39;s a ';restaurant';...
I must agree that%26#39;s a bit limited but it can be done, especially at an ethnic restaurant and there are a number right near your hotel.
First, 7 pm this Friday near MOMA will be sheer madness. I would either go downtown or uptown or at least head back toward your hotel.
Minado is an all you can eat Japanese/Korean buffet rest. at 6 east 32 st.
Bella Napoli is a decent Italian/pizza place near your hotel
