Tradition for a visit to NYC is to have an overpriced drink at the Oak Bar in The Plaza. Since I hear The Plaza is under renovation, please suggest another 5 star hotel bar for our drink this weekend.

Here are my substitutes - in fact, here are the places I%26#39;d go to before the Oak Bar anyday ;-)

1. Bemelmans Bar, in the Carlyle Hotel, 35 E. 76th St., at Madison Avenue

2. Mark%26#39;s Bar, in the Mark, 25 E. 77th St., at Madison Avenue

3. Oak Room at the Algonquin, in the Algonquin Hotel, 59 W. 44th St., between Fifth and Sixth avenues

Agree with all of the above for the same sort of feel. Could add some other thoughts but not necessary. For something totally different and new, go to the lobby lounge of the Mandarin Oriental on the 35th floor of the Time Warner building. Pow and wow.
