Hello From The Waldorf! What we have done so far....

Hi Everyone!

We made it safe and sound to NY and we are loving every second of it.

Yes its cold, yes its vibrant and YES i want to live here!!

We were picked up very promptly from the airport by Carmel but the car was a little tired and very smelly! Also our driver didnt say one word to us the whole journey. We were tired anyway but it would of been nice to have some of the sites pointed out to us. Needless to say we didnt book a return journey, we will sort that later this week.

We got to the Waldorf in very good time and check in was a breeze as there is a sep Diamond card holders check-in room for this.

The Waldorf is nice but I have to say Im a little disappointed, our room is very noisey so I cant even sleep after been awake for 21 hours hence Im here at an unearthly time. We have asked to be moved and even though Hubby is a diamond card holder they say they cant help us as the are over booked already :(

We quickly unpacked and made our way to Bloomies. I brought the few things I had planned to and also remembered to go to guest services where we were given a 15% off coupon and also when we had finished shopping we returned and gave us a couple of freebies - a great way to start out trip. We had a Bloomies cooktail shaker and if we had brought over $100 of goodies we could of had the choice of a bag or a keychain, the lady was so lovely she gave us the keychain anyway and the gentleman by her side said %26#39;oh give her the bag too%26#39; I explained that I had just brought three Bloomy bags so it really wasnt necessary - so kind!! Everyone we have met so far have been wonderful.

Anyway from there we went to Serendipity 3. We had ressies for 6:30pm but it was only 4:30pm! The queue was out of the door and it was an hour wait. We spoke to the gentleman on the door and explained that we wouldnt be able to make our ressie (we were flagging at this point) and he said as it was just the two of us he would find us a table straight away, and he did.

This place is very cramped but I loved it! The Christmas decorations are amzing, I would love to see the place empty so I could see the nic-naks better, its filled with so much. We both had a frozen hot choc (I dont eat cream so there was our excuse to have one each :) ) Hubby had the meatloaf and I had Texan Chilli. Everything was wonderful. It came to $42 + tip and we cant wait to go back, the other deserts looked amazing too - so much choice so little time in the City to try it all. We left there with the powder mixes to try and recreate the magic at home and wondered back to our hotel.

We were meant to see an evening view of the ESB but we were too tired so we just went back to the bar in the Bull and Bear for a couple of (expensive!) beers before we called it a night. A perfect way to end our first night in new york.

Today we are meeting Brad our BAG and we are going to explore Brooklyn Heights and then walk over Brooklyn Bridge - Nic I will be thinking of ya :)

Sorry if this is a like mixed up and my spelling is poor but Im paying by the second LOL and i just wanted to check in with you all.

If I dont get to check in again whilst Im here, have a wonderful christmas and i will write a better TR when I get home.

Emma

Hello From The Waldorf! What we have done so far....

Hi Emmaj

It sounds amazing so far....keep up the journal. I love to read these - it makes you feel like you are on vacation even when you are stuck in a gloomy office!!! :)

How is the weather there at the moment???

Hello From The Waldorf! What we have done so far....

Dear Emma

Glad you are there safe and sound - sounds like you are having a fantastic time. Lovely to ready your report. Merry Christmas to you and yours, have a great time

CathyC

Great start to the trip Emma. How about buying some ear plugs?? Have a great time!

Sounds like fun, and the weather is nice, the buses %26amp; subways are running, all is good with the world!!!

Can%26#39;t wait for the rest of your report, and enjoy the rest of your trip.

It%26#39;s lovely to get to hear about trips as they are happening! Have a great time and a fantastic Christmas.

I am glad you are enjoying the trip so far. Maybe you could ask for a small room fan (pointed away, of course) to help drown out the noises at night. I can feel your excitement! Have a wonderful trip!

Have fun in Brooklyn. Enjoy the ';balmy'; weather today.

I look forward to the next installment!

Merry Christmas.

Oh Emma! Since you ar at the Waldorf...there used to be a good restaurant there called Peacock Alley, but it closed for renovations. I heard it had recently re-opened or was about to anyway. So if it%26#39;s open it might be worth a visit.

Carry on!

One really should not expect much conversation from taxi or limo drivers in New York, let alone a guided tour! Many have very limited English, and even those who can speak English fairly well tend to be relatively recent immigrants -- they often will not know what the sights are, nor how to name them for you.

Hi everyone, Its was our last full day today :( so I will fill you in with our fun when I get home.

We have loved every minute of it!!

Emma

p.s. I didnt really expect a guided tour!! Just a %26#39;Hello%26#39; and %26#39;Thank You%26#39; would of been nice!
