Drinks on Sunday before dinnner - West 50's area

Any suggestions where to stop for a drink before an early Sunday evening dinner (6:00 pm reservation)? We%26#39;re all from New York (Westchester), so we%26#39;re very familiar with the city, but want to have a special drink with special friends...maybe a place with a view or just a really warm place...thanks.

With a 6pm reservation, it sounds like you need something really close. Would help to know where you%26#39;re eating. The Sea Grill or the Rock Ctr. Cafe with views onto the ice rink come to mind for a drink. Morrells wine bar is also in Rock. Ctr (5th %26amp; 49/50 st).

Other possibilities are

Pentop bar in the Peninsula Hotel

King Cole Bar in the St. Regis

If you%26#39;ll be further north/west, the Library bar in the Hudson hotel is supposed to be very nice.

Ofcourse, the lobby lounge of the Mandarin Oriental (Columbus Circle) has fantastic views).

No view and it%26#39;s in the West 40s, but the lobby of the Algonquin is a cozy, warm place for a drink, as is the little Algonquin bar, which I think is (or was) called the Blue Bar.

THALIA at 50th and Eighth is a perfect place for a late afternoon drink. Where%26#39;s dinner? In Theatre District? Elsewhere?

I think at that hour on a Sunday you probably need to stick to a hotel bar. The Peninsula Pentop bar is on 55 st just off Fifth Ave.

Maybe bar at Blakely Hotel (or its restaurant) on West 55th Street (blakelynewyork.com) or perhaps bar at Petrossian on West 58th at 7th (petrossian.com).

Also, any of the hotels along Central Pork South (59th Street) -- like Essex House, Ritz Carlton, etc.
