Ferry trips

Im a lil bit confused with the ferry options.

I%26#39;d like to do a trip to get next to the SOL, but unsure about Ellis Island.

As it will be freezing, would prefer to do trip which lasts no more than 1-1.5hrs.

Whats the best option?

Ferry trips

Free Staten Island ferry passes near but not right at the statue. You ride to Staten Island. Get off, get on another ferry and ride back. Nice views. No hassle. The ferry that actually goes to the Statue and then on to Ellis Island requires lots of security checks and you pay for tickets.

best of all the staten island ferry is free. round trip less than an hour, great views of the statue.

I agaree with the other posts-stick to the Staten Island Ferry. It%26#39;s free, you can get great pictures of the Statue of Liberty and avoid the hassle and the cost of the Ellis Island/Liberty Island Ferry.Enjoy!(And after dark,it%26#39;s really beautiful)

Exactly where can we get info about the free ferry? Such as hours of operation and location?

Thanks!
