Doubletree Guest Suites Times Square - Is it Safe Around...

We are planning to stay at the Doubletree Guest Suites in Times Square in the early part of January. Would anyone tell me if it is safe to be walking at night time near this hotel? Is it centrally located to most of the sights in New York? Thanks in advance.

It is absolutely safe, lots of people around, it is in the middle of Times Square, nothing to worry about.

Doubletree Guest Suites Times Square - Is it Safe Around...

Our family of 5 stayed there last March for 6 days. We loved it, and always felt safe in the immediate area. There are police all over the area, lots of people at all times, and doormen in the front door. You can%26#39;t get past the lobby without showing your room card. My teens were out alone in the evenings for a short bit looking at the souvenier shops close by or grabbing a snack at the McDonald%26#39;s next door. We never had any issues. The rooms there are very quiet also. It is the perfect location to walk to most sights, and you can grab a cab right out front to go downtown, or you are also on a bus line and near the subway. It is a great location. We walked to the theater, Rockefeller Center, Central Park, Macy%26#39;s, ESB, (of course the weather was much warmer then.) But even if you chose to take a cab, it only costs $4 - $7 to the other main attractions. You are also next door to the Visitor%26#39;s Center which has free internet use.

We stayed at the Doubletree Times Sq last January for 7 nights. It is in a great position, and like porchparty said the rooms are quiet which is rare in NY. Security is good, you always have to show your key to get into the lift that takes you from the small street level lobby to the ';real ';lobby a few floors up. Walking around at night is no problem, there are plenty of restaurants to choose from. Try Virgils BBQ while you are there - it is good and always busy. Enjoy NY, relax and have a good time.

It%26#39;s as safe as anywhere else.

Just keep your wits about you and you%26#39;ll be OK.

Did you not do any research before you booked the hotel in relation to the location?

It seems not if you are asking about the sights.

Purchase a guide book w/map to get your bearings, it really will be helpful.

Poppa

most likely one of the safest areas as it is full of policemen...yum yum!]

Stayed there january2005.Regularly walked back to the hotel from near the UN building at midnight and never felt unsafe.

Central to the theatres, lots of restaurants nearby and close to subway and busses going downtown.Thoroughly reccomend it.

New York City is the safest big city in the country, Manhattan is the safest part of the City, so don%26#39;t worry, have fun.

It is very safe-the sidewalks are crowded always but there are plenty of police around. I book all my out of town friends into this hotel for that reason specifically because although I feel safe in most neighborhoods, they do not and at this hotel,I know they are. It is a terrific hotel and the service is great.
