Okay for the last time, I%26#39;ll respond--Trattoria Trecolori.

I%26#39;ll also add: John%26#39;s Pizzeria for pizza, and ViceVersa for lovely food.

For more info about these, check out trattoriatrecolori.com and menupages.com.

In all seriousness, have fun, ok?

A couple of places you may want to look into; I don%26#39;t know if they%26#39;re open NYE:

1. La Gioconda, on East 53rd between 2nd and 3rd. They are in menupages, and I think also have a website. I think the Zagat rating for food is about 20-22. Very reasonably priced, compared to other Italians, although don%26#39;t know if it%26#39;s in your budget.

2. Lasagna Ristorante, corner of 2nd Av. and 50th St. Guess what their specialty is? But I think they have other things (haven%26#39;t eaten at this one). I think this is probably less expensive than the one above. Don%26#39;t think they%26#39;re in menupages or have a website, but they probably have a phone. This is a classic, simple, checkered tablecloth type of place, informal, but not as informal as places like Bella Napoli.

3. Notaro, on 3rd Av. near 34th, which another poster has been recommending and which also gets a good food rating in Zagat. This is in the same price range as La Gioconda.

4. In the same general area as La Gioconda %26amp; Lasagna (2nd Av. in the 50s), there are several other reasonably priced places and bars. There is a Thai restaurant, Phuket, between 50 and 51.

Sorry, Notaro is actually on 2nd av. near 34th.

They are also in menupages.

And I just learned that La Gioconda (www.lagiocondany.com) is under the same management as La Giara (www.lagiara.com), a cute little place on Third Av. between 33rd and 34th. That particular block of Third Av. has several other reasonably priced places.

Sorry Montrealtraveler, didn%26#39;t know you had checked it out. Bonne chance with the other rec%26#39;s and Bon Appetit!

If you paste the above in your browser, you will be connected to the only webpage I could find that has a reference to Mimi%26#39;s, an Italian place on 2nd Av at about 53rd street. I think the guy who wrote this gives a pretty good description. This is another inexpensive checked tablecloth place, but with a piano bar. I think his description of the food and service is probably accurate. I couldn%26#39;t find it on menupages.

Gosh, I forgot about Mimi%26#39;s. Here%26#39;s some info

Certainly not fancy, but a NY experience. They should have a piano player for NYE.

It also reminded me, did I ever suggest Trio? Closer to your hotel, inexpensive, live piano. Nice.
